Distortions

two-channel video installation / 2013
The first piece of Distortions was created through the repeated re-conversion of a video selfie, while the second video was made by re-shooting the same video from a computer screen over and over again until the image became unrecognizable. This project is an homage to Alvin Lucier. The accompanying text states: "I’m sitting in front of a mobile phone camera, capturing the expression of my face and the sound of my voice. When the recording is done, I will play it on a laptop screen and reshoot the video from the screen using the mobile phone camera. I will repeat these actions again and again until the image of my face becomes an abstract set of pixels, and the words sound like meaningless noise."
